Get Busy Living – Page 40 – Helping and Inspiring You to Live an Epic Life

This morning, I got up on the wrong side of the bed. It just didn’t start well. First of all, I slept way past my alarm. I had my mom asking me to play travel agent for her, which I don’t like to play, and just struggled to get the morning started.

After making breakfast, I sat at my computer screen and found myself just wasting time with no goal in mind for the morning.

Not a great way to start.

So I dragged myself out of the house to go for a run. I needed to relieve some stress and exercise.

First I wanted to say thank you to everyone who read, retweeted, comment on my post last week, 40 Rising Bloggers Who are Heating it Up This Summer. The reaction to it was unbelievable! I’m ecstatic so many people enjoyed it.

Today I wanted to do something different and that’s do a video post to say thanks. I’ve never talked into a camera so this was actually harder to do than write a post!

For those who record videos often, I have lots of respect for you.

Take a few minutes to watch the video and let me know how I did! Please…be gentle.

If you’re looking for new blogs to read and great up-and-coming bloggers to know, you’re going to enjoy my list I’ve put together.

We would all love for the A-list bloggers to RT our stuff, recognize us, answer our questions, and join our network but the fact is most of them are too busy. We are just a blip on their radar.

Instead a cue from my friend and co-founder of Blogcast FM, Srini Rao, who has spent the last 18 months studying how online relationships are formed.

As Srini wrote in his guide to Relationship Marketing, which I have had the pleasure of reading…

“the power of people at your same level is far greater than you probably realize now.”

If you’re still finding at the end of the day, week, or month you’re not getting as much done as you’d like, by the time you read this post, you’ll have a clear understanding why and how to fix it.

Too often you’ve been focused on the tasks you need to do to achieve your goals. The endless to do list. We’ve all tried them. Today let’s take a different approach to being more productive.

What you may have neglected are the behaviors that slow or distract you from accomplishing more.

I’ve been blogging seriously here for four months now. It’s not a huge accomplishment but it’s a good start. While this isn’t going to be a long traditional recap post (typically after a year), I do want to say a quick sincere, heartfelt thanks. At the beginning I didn’t know who would be reading my […]

Recently I had a conversation with my dad. He has relaxed more as he has gotten older. He always wears a worn out University of Florida Gators hat. He and my stepmom just bought a house in Las Vegas to move to when he retires. He loves playing three card poker. We gave him the first generation iPhone and he can take a photo with it. He loves going to Costco to eat free samples and won’t hesitate to go for seconds.

However, he is very old fashioned. Growing up for us it was always study hard, make good grades , go to a good college (Ivy league would have been nice). Being a doctor was acceptable (that didn’t happen either).

I know my dad is from the older generation so his idea of life is straightforward. School, graduate, job, marry, family, continue working, then retire. That’s how he’s lived his life so far and how he expects ours.
